Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas to all. We just got back from AZ last night and have mostly been unpacking/organizing. It’s rainy and cloudy today in LA which is my favorite staying at home weather. I’ve decided to leave my Christmas tree and decor up until the New Year to (1) save the hassle of taking it down right now and (2) get to enjoy the coziness a bit longer.

I used to really hate when the sun started setting earlier, especially in Massachusetts where the sun would set at 3:30 pm sometimes. This year, I’ve been trying to lean more into enjoying all seasons. I’ve been drinking a lot of tea, lighting candles, and turning on the Christmas tree lights to help create that hygge feeling in the evenings. I’ve also liked watching a TikToker who lives on Svalbard where they experience polar night (24 hours of darkness) for several months of the year. She says she loves this season beaus everything is cozy and it’s shifted my outlook on these formerly resented months of more darkness.

In other news, one of Axel’s gifts to me this year was a website he built for me! I’ve been talking about starting a blog for a while so he surprised me with it to encourage me to get into it. I like instagram for the ease of use and wider reach, but I think I prefer more text-based content than image-based. I’m not quite sure yet exactly what the site will look like as far as content, but I’ve been wanting to write up trip reports/itineraries for trips I’ve been on because I really enjoy trip planning.

I finished my third semester  on the 12th, which officially marks the halfway point in my law school career. 2L has definitely been a lot better than 1L and I am looking forward to having some more experiential learning next semester, rather than just classes. Winter break has been a really nice time to just relax and work on personal projects without the constant feeling of guilt that hangs over me during finals. Hopefully I’ll be able to dedicate some time to starting my new writing venture and it won’t be as long of a gap until my next post.
